Thanks for the welcome everyone, and the compliments on the chicks.

The self-blue game ("Foxy") is as feisty as she is cute.

I'll see about getting a pic of the EE soon.

so odd question. Was looking at getting an incubator and trying some eggs this year but for some of the more interesting breeds i thought it might make more sense to see if anyone would have some room in their really nice incubators coming up.

Not sure if this is and odd thing to ask or not so let me know if this is not good to ask

Was looking at some interesting/odd/rare breeds and didn't want to spend decent money on eggs only to have a cheaper incubator screw it up.

or maybe i should just get a good incubator first and then deal with the eggs. What comes first? lol

Loved those dickey incubators but i would never need more than a 1x1 lol

Thoughts ??

Incubator ? I'll tell you incubator . My friends daughter asked for one at Christmas . Grandpa came through with a fancy expensive one . She had it in the living room (that term comes into play in a minute) when I visited the other day . She said she was just waiting for the "big event" while sitting drawing pictures in a chair next to it . I laughed and asked her if she could just sit on them . She laughed . Well , .......... I'm thinking she shoulda . The family went to bed and came out in the morning to the temp having gone up BIG TIME . They don'y know if a dog hit the switch or what . Bottom line : start over . ("living room" ...... I think NOT).

I have been wondering about the whole incubator thing. I know we want more polish, and I'd love some other less common breeds, without driving up to Phoenix or further (though I'd gladly do it to meet some of the great folks here). The feed store in Tucson has one for around $60. Is that not worth messing with?

Paratrooper, what a terrible story! Sounds like something that would happen here. I am guessing your daughter wasn't really interested in baked eggs.

Paratrooper - Oh how sad for a kid.

Shaun - hatching is a addictive. I still press my face on the window when they hatch. I just set some eggs from Mahalo and Mahonri today And a couple from my freeloaders.

I'm about to get out my brinsea to start checking fertility on my w/bws. Apparently my roo is no longer doing his job. Is there a rooster/booster "viagra" like feed for them?

I'm crossing my fingers for Noskiveez.

My wife would have me committed if I bought a sportsman or a dickey.

I finally got my Brinsea yesterday

All I need now is eggs. I also got a confirmation from Sanhill. I'll get an order of chicks in April

. See if I can detect "better" quality than with the hatchery birds I have now.

I hear nothing but good things about the brinsea. The dickey is awesome it has a back up thermostat for accidents, I tried all the styrofoam models with bad hatch rates so I bit the bullet & got the Dickey & its Awesome, & I dont mind hatching out other peoples eggs as long as I have room. I just set it & forget it!! LOL!!

My Brinsea is due to arrive TODAY.

Mahonri- do I have time to give it a test-run before the Easter hatch?

Nevermind, it occurs to me I could probably look at a calendar myself.

The New Year's chickies are doing well . ~4 weeks today.
