I'm sorry to hear that. Terrible loss

Good morning everyone. I am kind of caught up. Sorry to hear about bird losses and very much thinking about those without heat in this.

I lost the day before yesterday. My OEG rooster was bickering the day before with the silky roo and he did not look good in the morning. I put him in a warm area and did what I could before leaving for class, but he was gone when I got home. I am pretty sure the cornish hen was killed by the ravens. She was just coming out of the crate that they like in her pen and was torn into in the neck with some pulled out through the neck. I think she was blocking the crate, the ravens wanted in for eggs and she wouldn't move. I have been working on covering and closing the pens in better to keep the ravens out. That project has been moved into higher priority now.

As to the cold snap. My pump froze up Wednesday night even with a space heater in the pump house, so I was dealing with that in the morning and then had to go into an appointment in town. I stopped at my dad's house and the front yard was flooded and water was pouring out of a small porch wall. Looked like the water line that comes out of the house to a water spigot froze and broke. Talking to some local plumbers there were several houses that had water piping higher in the roof (ok, not sure why) that froze and flooded out the house. At least dad has no inside flooding.

20 degrees this morning and my Delaware went outside anyway...

All my chickens hung in there so far. Hope everybody else got over the cold spell ok. Supposed to get warmer now

5pinkarrows, that silkie with the makeup is great! Maybe just put different color dirt out to give her some variety

I would LOVE to give you a couple FBCM roos that are just over a month old. PLEASE PM me and we can work out when/where we can meet etc...

I also have FOUR pet quality Ameraucana roos, two wheaten and two blue wheaten just for the asking. Otherwise I'll probably be donating them to my cousin's farm out on the far west side of the valley or to a farmer friend in Mesa or heaven forbid I'll be dropping them off at Pratt's or the Stock Shop. I've decided I can't afford to feed roos I can't keep.

The only marans roo that I'll be keeping from my NYD hatch is a Wheaten Marans.. he is big and pretty.
