How sad! Is there someone you can call? Here, I would call the Desert Museum to see what they suggest. You have to get rid of that guy! A friend of mine lives in a regular neighborhood. There is a group of Harris Hawks there, too, that carry off people's cats. They are so majestic and flat out cool, but when they are carrying off your critters, something has to be done.

Our little silkie hen really tore up her toe today. She doesn't have the best quality feet and this is one of the toes with no nail. We switched her to another pen and I think she did it while trying to get back into her old pen. I put peroxide on it and then some genetian violet. I wrapped a piece of gauze around it and taped it, hoping to keep it clean. I have no idea if that was the right thing to do or not. Any suggestions or anything I should watch for?

One of my Silkies once ate a toe. I don't know what happened. I heard a commotion and looked out the window and they were fighting over the toe. I didn't realize it until after it was gone that it was her toe. She spent about a week in a dog crate and was fine, just toeless.

Maybe deer netting? If you have them on the side N of the pool you could attach the netting between the fences at the top so that hawk can't come down on your chicks.

ACK!!! That is disgusting! I hope she didn't do that. She has messed up feet anyway. She has one double toe and some don't have nails. I know she isn't the best quality, but she is seriously the sweetest chicken we have had. She loves to be held and cuddled. The silkie rooster is so possessive of her and won't let anyone near her. So, we took her away from him and started keeping her in the other pen. She is dying to get back in her old pen. I don't know if she misses him or wants to lay an egg. She has always been very particular about where she lays. When she's in the back yard and needs to lay, she paces and paces until we put her back in her pen. Today she must really be wanting to lay because she was throwing herself at the fence trying to get in. I think that is how she did it. I hope it's better by tomorrow. It seems almost impossible to keep a chicken foot clean.
