I was looking for the same info myself back when. I found a test that Mother Earth News did, you might try Googling it. Unwashed on the counter, depends on what you keep your house at, they stay good for quite a while. I keep mine on top of the chest freezer when I don't get them in the fridge right away because the lid is cold. They are better left unwashed until you get ready to use them because the 'bloom' keeps them air tight and keeps bacteria out. I do recommend refrigerating them right away regardless, just because.

Just my unprofessional, untrained, 2 cents worth.

I leave mine unwashed on the counter in a decorative egg tree. They are supposed to last a month or two, but they never make it past a week around here.
I mark the date collected on the top so we can eat the older ones first.
I guess when my pullets start laying we might have too many eggs to do this with. If they last more than a week I'll probably refrigerate.

My little flock had a eventful day outside. At one point all three of them were dustbathing, but by time I got the camera only two of them were still at it.

TT! :

HAH! My silkies did exactly that today! Unfortunately for them, my parents are coming tomorrow and I'm in the middle of an insanity driven cleaning spree. Chickens included.

The one wet / one dry pic is begging for a caption.
