Well so far so good. The eggs are in the bator for two days now at a balmy 99.6 degrees. I bought the Brisa Octagon 20 ECO egg incubator with the turner. My only complaint is the stupid thermometer. You can't see it through the the cover to tell what the temp. I had to keep opening the lid and moving the darn thing. It looks like nothing more the a glass rectal thermometer and hard to read at a distance and through the cover. I went out and paid $24.00 for a reptile digital one that also measures the humidity. The temp stays at a steady 99.5 until the unit turns and then it is 99.6 but I think it's because the thermometer is closer to the heating until.

Here's an interesting issue.. This morning I went out and there was two eggs in the pen with the one breed that I feel has not been laying well. I was cold and barefoot so decided to wait about an hour until I was properly dressed. When I went out eggs vanished, and I had a hen sitting on a plastic egg.

WHERE ARE MY EGGS!!! Funny that on a few days when that flocks visits the other flock I hear a lot of egg celebration going on, but NO EGGS..

I need to call in an investigator.. That flock always has food in their dish but looks all day for handouts and I was wondering why they are not laying well... Could it be, there is an egg eater in the group....

Also thank you AZ Chicken lovers for the offer to save on shipping for the worms. I went to Petco myself and the cost was 4.99 for shipping, which is not bad being I have to pay $22.00 or more for gas for a trip to Tucson. I think I will just order them when I'm ready for them, I need to first find my egg eater before my girls get depressed having nothing to show for all their hard work.

He said the only requirement is that you have to package them in something more than a Styrofoam carton. They have to be boxed so they don't move to aid in prevention of breakage. I"m going to try it, the seller says USPS is $11 to $14.0 with insurance, tracking, and to have you contacted when they arrive. For $13.00 I can have them shipped two day with insurance to $100.00 included, tracking included, and front door service included. That is from CA, I'm not sure how much it would me for other areas, and you may be right they may not accept living packages, like chicks.. I didn't ask.

If I remember correctly, insurance only covers eggs that do not arrive and does not cover damaged eggs.

I was not thinking eggs, but rather chicks, adult and started birds.

It will be a while. I made that godforsaken drive 4 times this month, and I didn't even get to buy anything at IKEA.

Ikea is maybe 2 miles from me...probably not quite that far!​
