Arizona Chickens

Can anyone give me a time for successfully candling light brown eggs? They have been in the bator since Saturday and we cannot see a thing except light and spots. The AS eggs that are in the same bator two days less have visible life in them, but they are white shelled. I hate to mess with the eggs more than I need to but I'm an anxious mother hen, you know like I'm one that has an ultrasound as soon as allowed...

You should really wait 7 to 10 days!! I know its hard but I wait till day 18 before I move them to hatcher. We have all been through the first time it seems like it takes forever!!

Also...besides waiting a little longer to candle. Candle in a dark place... it is easier to see into the eggs, doesn't matter what color they are it really helps

Well I just cancelled my order for chicks from My Pet Chicken and ordered through my feedstore

. I am going to get Wyandottes instead of Salmon Faveroles. I ordered 5 silver-laced, 5 golden laced, 5 blues, and 10 blue laced reds. I will also be buying a few others from the feed store, I want some bantams and cochins. Now instead of waiting until June 27th I will get my chicks May 4th and I saved a lot of money doing this

Is this normal, now that I have a cock in the yard my hens want to sit on their eggs. When I swipe them they get ticked and get the entire yard of Chickens upset and cluck-en. Also this morning I had two hens going to lay and I kept checking on them because I have been missing eggs. Had been going outside about every 10 minutes. One time I went out there was a hen in the nest but only had a plastic egg under her. 10 minutes later went out and the roo was crowing, off fly's a hawk from the pen with what looks like a white egg in it's feet. Hen no longer signing the egg song. I guess maybe that's what is happening to my eggs. I will have to keep the girls under roof until they have laid for the day.

I don't candle for at least a week. I use a bright LED headlamp and go out at night. I hold the headlamp in my hand, make an "O" with my thumb and index finger over the bulb, and set the egg on top of the "O". I hold onto the egg with my other hand. Even dark eggs light right up
