Arizona Chickens

Those emu eggs decorate my kitchen. They are used for pretties and for chickie pictures.

I finally took the other emu egg out of the fridge. The change in temp made it crack, and now it is leaking all over my counter. The DH did not pull out the drill before he left this morning, like I asked, so perhaps I will just let it continue to leak.

Yes there are silkies in this batch of chickies. The eggs were shipped to me from Cammy, (Elite Silkies on BYC). It is the 3rd time I have gotten eggs from her, and they have ALWAYS had high hatch rates. First time I have EVER hatched 100%--nevermind they were SHIPPED eggs. Good Gravy.

Elite Silkies specializes in lavenders, and whites. She is one of those peeps who will drop $750 on a pair of show birds---which is really obvious when you get some of her eggs. Her silkies are poofy to the extreme! LOL!

We have babies!!!! Wow they zipped really quickly, less than an hour ... I figured I had lots of time - LOL!
Here they both are, not dry yet

The first one is already all over the bator, number 2 is a little more tired from the ordeal. The first one is almost all black, the second is mostly black with some white on it's face and wings

Wish they put a non glare window on the hova bator! Makes picture taking hard!

Set a flashlight on the glass at the other end of the bator from where you want to take a pic. Turn off your flash and you are all set!

I'll try it in a while. I didn't have the flash on, but it's glare from the light in the room.

My right brain:
Oh! all the chicks are so cute!
We can have a few more.
I need a bator.
Why won't one of mine go broody?

My left brain:
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks
I am ignoring all the cute chicks

All the little peeps arriving in Arizona how fun. I've got 4 more pipped my Delawares are doing much better than my own breed. I lost one of the 14 at day 10 and I'm at 5 hatched, 4 pippin and 1 zipper.
