Well done ladies.

You know, if these can be refrigerated for a month or are shelf staple, I should get a round too. I' going to do MUCH better on my next hatch, starting very shortly after this one.

Mclevinson: you have to buy a styrofoam cooler and gel ice pack for shipping, so I think they need to be refrigerated, but not sure how long they last UNTIL you open them?

I did a "mock" order on Jeffers and added vaccines for Fowl Pox, Newcastle/Bronchitis and Newcastle Lasota, a styrofoam cooler, 2 gel ice packs and its coming to $30, plus $8 for shipping. However, I'm not sure if I need to order syringes for the Fowl Pox vaccine? It says it comes with one "puncturing instrument", but wouldn't you need a new one for every bird? (and whats a puncturing instrument anyway?!) LOL.

I get Smiles-N-Sunshine.

Constance- I'm not on Facebook either. I think we are the last of a very small handful on the planet that aren't. It's kind of a rebellious thing for me.

update on broken shipped hatching eggs
here is the persons response

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know of the problem.
I apologize for any inconvience you may have
experienced due to this problem.
We ship several hundred chicken eggs
a week using that same method
and have never had a complaint.
Sounds like the postal service may
have been a little rough with the package.
Again thank you for the heads up mand
please let us know if there is anything
we can do to rectify the problem

Constance - Oh bummer. I just put in a huge vaccine order with Jeffers. I didn't do mareks tho. Had I been able to get it in a smaller quanity, I would have. I'm only hatching on a small scale now and it would be too pricey. I did order fowl pox. We had an out break of that last year and it was ugly.

AZDreamer - I have an egg eater too. My cuckoo roo.

Mahonri - I had my first brilliant blue egg today. I was a bit surprised to see it in there. They broke it tho. I also have a new fbcm laying too. Super dark egg.

Meg - Someday I hope to get to join you for java. I usually don't get too far from the baby tho.

Bethany - fowl pox comes with a jabber and its exactly that. It looks like a double pronged seam ripper used for sewing. And WATCH OUT the jabber has no cap or cover and its loose inside a baggie in the cooler. BTW - The cooler is a nice little pack. I keep vax in the fridge if that's where they are supposed be kept. If they need a cooler temp I keep them in my hatching egg fridge (red wine cooler fridge).

Darn, I would cry if my eggs arrived looking like that. What are the chances of a good hatch with that kind of breakage? I know it's more expensive but I shipped my last two Fedex and they customers said everything looked great. I'm having some shipped to me Thursday so I'll see first hand if they do a better job. I think if you request a business account you get a volume discount. Mine discount is $10.00 for two day which makes the cost of shipping eggs $10-15, and $25.00 for overnight making the shipment $31.00 -40.00. I don't trust anything through our post office. One time I ordered chocolate and told the PO that I got notice it was delivered. They told me it was still on a pallet sitting outside and wouldn't be sorted until the morning. Needless to say the items had melted... Bad service..

I had something like that happen with chicks, except they never bothered to call me and I had to keep going down there. I could hear them peeping but they would not go get them.
