Thanks for the advice. I asked my husband what hardware cloth was and he called it hardwire cloth, and told me the same thing about how it was made. I would be amazed if a dog could get through the dog run fencing, but then again, I was amazed at some creature getting to my little babies too!

WOW! That is horrible packaging--no wonder they broke.

That's a terrible pack job. The seller shpuld be replacing those eggs at their shipping expense. I've gotten shipped eggs a few times and if I had gotten those, I would be angry. If they refused to reship, packed properly and at their expense I would dispute the transaction with paypal immediately. I find it highly unlikely they ship hundreds of eggs successful in this manner.

Mclevinson: you have to buy a styrofoam cooler and gel ice pack for shipping, so I think they need to be refrigerated, but not sure how long they last UNTIL you open them?

I did a "mock" order on Jeffers and added vaccines for Fowl Pox, Newcastle/Bronchitis and Newcastle Lasota, a styrofoam cooler, 2 gel ice packs and its coming to $30, plus $8 for shipping. However, I'm not sure if I need to order syringes for the Fowl Pox vaccine? It says it comes with one "puncturing instrument", but wouldn't you need a new one for every bird? (and whats a puncturing instrument anyway?!) LOL.

I'll try to research tomorrow. When do you need to order?

Bethany83 and Mclevinson

It sounds like your shipping is coming up lower than mine, maybe because you don't have Marek's.
The vaccines need to be refrigerated, but will last a long time in the fridge. You will need syringesfor the Marek's (if you get it). The Marek's vaccine comes as a wafer that can be split into 4 parts (according to Laree and the FirstStateVet site). I don't know about the Newcastle/IB. You don't need a syringe for the Fowl Pox and the Newcastle/IB. You don't need a syringe for each chick either, just alcohol to wipe between chicks. Laree's posts yesterday and today were very helpful to me.

EDITED TO CORRECT MY TYPO - No syringe is needed for Newcastle/IB - sorry for the confusion, my cut and paste went in the wrong place.

I'm ordering the southern AZ vaccine tomorrow mid-morning. I can let you know how it goes if you like.

I guess it's just me then? That is freaky. The funny thing is, that is only the second facebook page I've ever opened. I avoid that place like the plague.

re: vaccines, if someone is going to be putting in an order for the Phoenix area, I would like to go in on it. I need pretty much everything I can get given the wild nature of my flocks habitat.

Wow! As unpleasant as this is/was, there is a BUNCH of great andivce in this one. I will print out and put in my chicken-pharmacy for hopefully never-to-be-used reference.

Me too, me too! Bob, I work in PHX and can probably pick the stuff up and deliver to you on the way home - if we get an order together. If PHX does not rally, we can always do a Congress-Wickenburg-Wittman-Morristown order
