When I vaccinate: I can poke 'em and bring them over, or we can combine forces and poke all your chicks and my chicks at the same time. Save $$?

Depends on the vaccine. Most have a "minimum" age to vaccinate.

Splash is recognised for a number of breeds, blue also. And you CAN enter any breed or variety, they just cannot place about their variety or breed if not recognised. What breeds are you wanting to enter?

splash ameraucana or splash jersey giant
how many months old do they have to be
for the state fair poultry show

Not sure what the rules currently say, but to be competative, the birds REALLY need to be at least 6 months old; 8 months old is even better. There was a really cute blue silkie at the county fair, but it was much too young to compete well.

Now if you're doing meat birds, age is a different matter, but then you said chickens, not turkeys, and there are usually no meat chickens at the state fair.

Pretty sure splash is not a recognised variety for either of those breeds, so you would enter it in the proper division under the class "Any other-specify breed/variety," and then state "splash." I am intending to get the lists of breeds and varieties updated so that all recognised breeds and varieties are listed, which they currently are not for either the state or county fair

We talked about it last week during our free seconds, and how to list the changes so that entering is easy, and have a couple of ideas that should work. I just need to speak with the folks who generate the entry forms (they already know what I want and are pretty much willing as long as the changes are timely).

I know of several folks from Phoenix who are going. I sure want to, and I keep telling DH "It's Indy! You can go spend time at the track!" So far he's not buying it (for himself). I'll keep pushing...

Anyways, blues and blacks are recognised for both those breeds.
