Arizona Chickens

All the chicks are doing good so far. Been letting htem out in the coop in the afternoon since we dont have any hens yet. They seem to enjoy being able to get out into the sun and have more space to run around.

Sonoran sorry just caught up with thread! They came down from Buckeye & asked to buy 2 hens to show in their 4H so We asked some questions, & found out that a lot of times people will bid on the birds & donate them back to the kids!! so We asked if We donated the birds & they got them back would they give them back to us & they agreed!! So We got lucky & got Our hen back it was a risk for Us but it payed off!! The kids where so Awesome they are brother & sister & brought us pictures & showed Us all their Buckles it was Great!!

I am new and have a long ways to go. Thx for the good wishes. I look forward to when they start laying. I have a lot to learn and will listen to all.

I just met a lady who gives her chickens Gatoraide in the summertime. I don't remember hearing this before. Any thoughts on why you should or should not do this? I am very curious.

I dont see any harm in that, They sell something to replace the birds electrolytes that You put in the water I have used it before so gatorade cant be all bad just my opinion.

It is the same as giving them Rooster Booster or electrolytes. I tell people with weak chicks to give them gatorade or sugar water if they dont have any electrolytes on hand.

You don't want to replace water with gatorade though. Too much salt is hard on the little chicken kidneys. It should be in addition to a trough of water, not instead of.

Only one thing can decimate a vegi garden better than hungry chickens. My 6 year old.

YES! My 2yo DD picked our ONLY big fat tomato and it wasn't even red yet.
