Arizona Chickens

broody betty the dark brahma strikes again for the second time in less then 4 months! she is probably peeved at me because i gave away her last set of babies and is thinking, "i'll show her. i'm going to sit in this box and steal everyone's eggs and hatch some more!" stupid hen. little does she know, the roo is gone and they need that roo! plus, it's a bazillion degrees out and she will turn into baked chicken in that laying box! can't i just give her some day olds in a week or so and call it a day?

LAREE, are the you know whats coming at the end of the month still?

Last year, Dozer went broody TWICE when it was 117 out. Stupid chicken.

I know the ORLOFFS are coming. Not related to the Rominovs....

Well, thats just nice...how can they use the word Ameraucana if they actually AREN'T? Bah. Not that I mind THAT much, but still, they should be honest in their post. Especially since they go all into the history of the bird and make it sound like its legit.

Zip ties! That could work...but wouldnt they try to peck at those, too??

I'll take them for butchering.

My mom was supposed to be an animator on that movie.

Sandhill may be a different story.

butyou still may get blue eggs from an EE. I have an EE that looks like a Dellie/EE/Sexlink cros that lays huge blue eggs.

The way I understand it is this: Americauna genes make blue shelled eggs. Not white on the inside like most colored eggs are; blue. When an Americauna is crossbred, you have a chance of blue eggs. BUT if the hens breeding has her laying any shade of brown the color is deposited on top of the existing blue shell to create an olive egger. Some of my "Americaunas" are really Olive eggers. One lays a very odd shade that isn't either blue OR green. It's just...odd. Two have muffs, two have small rumps. None of the four has both a muff/beard and a small rump. Mine are EE's.
