Arizona Chickens

Heard on the news a little bit ago that we did in fact officially reach 118 and today is the 4th hottest day on record.

Try to stay as cool as possible out there and sorry for the losses from the heat!

Pimachickens - Sent you an email and PM, BUT it will be later than I thought, probably 7am-ish or later. I'll know more when we talk to Gallo tomorrow morning at 5am-ish. I'll send another email when I know more.

Are you going to need a replacement pullet for your lost marans? Hatched out 4 today, another 11 in the bator. Say the word. But Let me know SOON as I am off for vacay in the nearest future, hence why Laree and I had to do emergency chick triage. It wasn't pretty and downright scary.

I'll be fine... I just want to see pics of the chicks!... especially the Icelandics!

Did anyone else get caught in that crazy power outage in N Phoenix? We had 15 people coming over for a BBQ at 5:00 when the power went out around 4:00. I think we counted 22 power poles snapped in half from the storm burst (no rain though, of course).

Thankfully our friends are brave and didn't mind the "mood lighting". The power didn't come back on until around midnight or so...it was HOT, but could have been a lot worse for sure!

Hello. Just put an introduction over on the new members side. I live in Mesa and just joined. I have just started my new flock. Have had poultry for about twenty years, until I moved to AZ about six years ago while going through a divorce. Now I'm going to try some urban chickens. Still miss my guineas and peafowl but at least I have my Old English Bantams and some laying hens.
If anyone is interested, I have far more Pullets than I need, since I had to order twenty five. I'm have a bunch of Easter eggers and silver leghorns that are three weeks old looking for homes.
I also have a gorgeous Blue D'Uccle bantam rooster who came as my free exotic chick and he's looking from some girlfriends. He's 6 weeks old.
Tracy
