Ahhhhh, we did it!
I managed to legally import Sulmtaler eggs into the United States. The shipment cleared USDA early this morning and just arrived here. Eggs are in the incubator! Now the wait begins. I suspect though that after to all this shipping headache watching the bator slowly turn will be good for my nerves.
I will post the whole story on my website and put a link in my avatar in a couple of days. This was quite an adventure! In short: I do not recommend it. Very frustrating and time consuming and complicated.
BTW Sulmtalers are a very sweet and pretty breed. They are average egg layers but have exquisite meat and thrive on corn.
. Have to try to not get too excited before they actually hatch...
I'm so sorry to hear about all of your losses, Mahonri. I know you have A/C in the coop, but have you thought about putting misters outside? I have misters for mine, and it may be dumb luck, but I haven't lost a bird to heat.
The neighbor boy put up a sprinkler in the run while we were gone. I think it gave them IB.
I've got antibiotics in the water but it's not working. So far, just the main coop, all of the others are OK.

Doing the "Imported Egg dance"! Sort of like a rain dance but specifically aimed at fertility and high hatching rates on chicken eggs. I'd show you but it's too embarrassing.
