Hi, Turkeybreeder! How is your flock?

Achkt! You got me! I was reading this worrying that Max had turned...whew!!!!! I'm glad he is working out. Of course I will completely understand if he does have a change of personality and end up as dinner, but, I am SO glad he is still the cool, funny, laid-back, strutting, sometimes-goofy guy he was here. I clearly remember the way he cocks his head and checks you out, in a mischievous, but somehow not threatening way. He is a character! Oh, and THANK YOU!

It's so hot - many of my poor girls won't sleep in their coop (even though it's only got 3 sides) and are sleeping out in the run - I found 2 in the yard after dark sleeping on some cool mud. So far, so good, they're surviving.

I rehomed 1 of my little roos today (finally). Someone came by to buy 3 pullets and when I offered the little bantam EE roo as a freebie, he happily accepted. He's just now starting up a new flock and he had planned to get a rooster in the future anyway. I was so glad to send this little guy off with a familiar flock. the little roo started crowing today, which means off to The Stock Shop and I really didnt' want to take such a tiny rooster there (but I"m not allowed to have crowers here).

1 more roo to go - so far, he hasn't started crowing yet.

Mahorni -
Those Ameraucanas I hatched from your eggs are the broodiest things ever. 3 of the 5 hens I kept continually go broody. I break them - they start laying again - next thing I know, they're broody again. But... I can't let them go, they're so pretty and lay such pretty eggs.

I think my red Frizzle is molting - at least I hope so. It's the ugliest thing ever right now, but somehow is still cute

Turkey Breeder -- Glad to see you back. Hope things are well with your flock.

Hi, all! I was curious...does anyone here sell eggs to eat? I have 2 laying hens that give us 10 eggs a week, but that leaves us short by a couple dozen. My pullets won't be laying for a while yet and I'd like to get away from grocery store eggs if I can

AZDC--I have a frizzle cochin roo that is perpetually brawling. He'll sneaky-mount a standard hen and she'll kick his butt--so he has patches of baldness and no feathers on his head. The other day he got whooped good, and had minor bruising on his head--but it swelled up in the heat. Pastrymama saw it and was like "What the french toast is THAT?" He looked like Bullet Pop with waddles, wrapped with a feather boa.

Hideous.

The swelling went down tbe next day, but until then.... *shudders*

I do, but no one is really laying right now. Too hot. I can barely keep up with my normal egg customers.
