Sonoran Silkies, you have the most AMAZING setup and birds. Thank you so much for the Silkie and Sizzle you helped me pick out. I'll let you know their names when they choose them!

Went to Lowes and got the plywood for my new coop project. I mean, as long as I'm moving the pen I might as well make a proper 6 ft coop, ya know?

DUDE!!! Save yourself! LOG OFF NOW and take her shopping IMMEDIATELY. Your chicken project will be delayed 10X proportionately to the amount of times she hears the words "chicken, chicks, incubation, hatching or coop". Take a deep cleansing breath and take it one hour at a time.

Thank you for the advice O wise chicken enabler!

The shopping has commenced!

Doh! I didn't pay attention to Megs post ... I thought you would be shopping for chickens. Much more fun and then you can combine shopping with chickens ... maybe DW won't even notice.

If you live in a cold winter area, single combs are more likely to get frostbitten than are rose or pea combs. In a warm climate, single combs help the birds get rid of heat. Pea comb is closely linked to the blue egg gene. Some people like or dislike the looks of certain kinds of combs.

Then there is the very unusual buttercup comb. Or the v-shape comb of the crevecours.

Dem's the ones I'm after...
