Laree: I sure hope you find them all! What a way to spend your Sunday!

The whole two drops of rain we had here was just enough to make everything dirty. Where's the rain??

Hope everyone else did ok. We fared all right, except my 4 year old woke up with stomach flu.

. Wish me luck...

Your silkie blew all the way over to my house! Found her in the yard with a small bag, must have used it as a parachute. Finders keepers! I'm going to dye her purple so you won't recognize her next time you come over.

Stardust had medium to large barrels with sealing lids for around $3 apiece. On the northside of Broadway, about 1/4 mile east of Dobson - it is fairly well hidden & is on the east side of a very large parking lot. Great used building materials store.

After the rain stopped, I went and dusted everyone anyway. (the ones sleeping outside, or under the blown-away coop were soaked. Caked that crap right on.

Today I've used #15+ of DE---I mixed it into the 3 places they like to like to dust bathe in the yard. THen I took 2 oil pans, mixed them in with 1/3 new dirt, 1/3 new sand, and 1/3 DE. I put those in the favorite "melted chcken" placess of the coop. Hopefully they'll get back into the habit of using the pans for dust bathing. Later today, I will go buy a few more cans of sevin dust. So long as we aren't smited by the wind gods tonight, I will do a "real" dusting once the chooks go to bed.

Anyone here locally breed the faverolles, in particular the salmon color? Were going to be starting up the incubator hopefully soon and they are one of the breeds we would like to have. Here is a long shot too, any blue or lavender orpingtons?

Now that could be one cute coop! Shaped like a teapot, and painted like something by Mary Engelbreit

LOL, Yeah I can see it now. Yes, I've gone with tempest, getting her to pose with a teapot...that'd be a challenge. Might get "Tempest ON a Teapot" though. Susie, teapot shaped coop just isn't in the cards. But I really LOVE the whole idea of naming the chickens by their breeds. If I did that I'd be down to 3 or 4 and would certainly need more. That one falls under "Chicken Algebra".

Nah, Chicken Geometry. Think geometric progression (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, ...) versus simple mathematical progession (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, ...). For the truly advanced, there is 2, 4, 16, 256, ..., but I cannot remember what that progression is called.

Herd the kids in herding the flock. Reward at capture of all the flock is ice cold popsicles and playing in the sprinklers. (or maybe inside watching a movie so you can cool off).
