Arizona Chickens

TT!, check your email!

pimachickens, I followed that storm all afternoon on the radar. I saw it pop up and explode just as it passed over my house and blast the west/nw side of town. I swear it's been missing us nearly every time one goes by. We had two good hits early on, but really nothing since. Wet flour in the vehicle sounds like a terrible mess!

LareePQG, I remember those days! I miss them dearly.

TT! :

I'm searching like mad, but maybe someone here can offer some insight... my cockerel is wheezing/squeaking when he breathes and sneezing. He shot mucus out of his mouth.

I listened to his lungs, they pop when he breathes. :-( There is no where to get antibiotics on Sunday night, is there?

We are surrounded by dust down here, hubby is on the way into town and said it's chasing him quickly at I-10 and Queen Creek, so be prepared, hanker down those chickens!!

I can get you a new cockerel. Do you keep any VetRX on hand?

This is why I try to keep antibiotics on hand. Chickens, cats, dogs, etc. ALWAYS get ill on weekends or holidays.

Do you have any human antibiotics that you can give him to get a jumpstart until you can get some at the feedstore or from the vet tomorrow? How about anyone else you know who has birds? Do you have any sulmet? Not usually thought if as an antibitic, but it is.

As annoyed as I was, I am grateful for the rain. Hopefully they had a good laugh at my expense and I have now paid my dues for my evil thoughts. Maybe we will now get more rain. The whole scene was kinda funny.

TT! - What kind of antibiotics can you give chickens? I have a bunch of random stuff for furry critters...and would be happy to meet you if they will help. Doxycycline, cephalexin, amoxi, clindamycin?

Ack! TT! I have the soluble stuff (Terramycin), I can bring it up if you need it, and Vaquero Feeds carries the injectibles, at least Tylan, maybe not Baytril, I don't remember. If you are interested in going the Vet route, my dogs' vet, Dr. Blake Herrington at Valley Animal Hospital sees chickens. They have 24 hour emergency service. He has helped us out over the phone with chickens a couple of times, with a presciption, no charge (except for the meds). He is great, has chickens of his own, and is an avian vet. Not cheap though, and on the wrong side of town for you. If I can do anything to help, give a call seven 95 six 335.
