And sadly oh so common these days....

I must be the pushiest neighbor in the universe. They all know me, I know them, and they will socialize with us OR ELSE.

Seriously, no one ignores my gift of jam. It is a good way to get a truckload of zucchini bread dumped in your yard.

ETA: Even the tattle tale behind us (the one who will report the whole neighborhood to the city, and take pictures of us when we are making too much noise) knows better than to ignore me. Even the people at the Feed Store have me on speed dial.

Laree, for the less gifted here do you think it is enough to just say "and by the way I am friends with Laree!"? Or do you do seminars? "neighborhood domination 101"

Mahonri just gave me a Hatching Egg Hodgepodge. Could you all please not send any bad weather my way? We had 21 hrs w/o electicity over the weekend. Don't need that right now. Or I'll have to call in sick for 21 days

You know your workplace needs to share in the joy of hatching (that should be the title of a book--seems like there is another book or two with similar names...). Haul that incubator in with you to spread the news of chicken math and chickoholics.

I would go to a seminar! I don't socialize with my neighbors, I learn quite enough from what I hear through the apartment walls. I am not afraid to approach them personally if there's a problem, though (not without my pepper spray, though, this is a scary place). I find it ridiculous to involve management/HOAs when a little conversation can fix the problem just as well, if not better. Of course, it has got me a burrito smeared across the hood of my car before, but the guy moved away not long after so I feel confident I won that one.
I would like things to change when I move though. I want to be an outgoing neighbor. But that's not something that depends on where I live, that needs to change within me. I've been a timid little shut in too long. I could really use a pushy neighbor to force me out my front door and get involved with other people.

Sounds like you live in one of those"fun" parts of Mesa like me. We use to just refer to our neighborhood as the ghetto, at least it's not as bad as it use to be.
