Arizona Chickens

I agree with doing whatever to not cut it first if at all possible. To get a good seal with a glue or something similar and make it water tight IMO will be very difficult without something permanently holding it there ( bolts etc). Auto stores carry gasket makers that are suppose to hold up to all sorts of chemicals but I dont know if they could withstand that much liquid. Silicone works pretty good for a while but I've seen many toilet tanks where someone used it to fix cracks and eventually the water makes it through. What about welding back the top of the frame or even using a plastic welder to seal up any hole you might cut?

Does anyone in Tucson or Tucson area want any roosters? I will be in town on Thursday & I can deliver him/them then. 1 pretty BR available, as well as a pretty "mystery chick" rooster that looks partridge rock-ish to me.

Please let me know by Thursday 6am.

Thanks!!!

So is now the time that pomegranates are ready?
Last year (our first year) ours never turned red inside which leads me to believe they sold me something other than a wonderful. I've had 3 other things turn out to be something other so I wouldn't be surprised. Time to find a new nursery.
Where do people in the Gilbert area go for plants?

I have the brooder all set up. Just watching for my "shipped chicks" email.

I have three types of pomegranates, each of which matures at a different time: Wonderful, Kashmir and Angel Red. The Wonderful and the Angel Red are definitely ripe now. I checked the Kashmir and was surprised to find that the inside was white and it's supposed to be red. It also has me wondering if it's just early for that one or if it was mislabeled at the nursery.

So how do you tell if they are ripe if you don't know what color they are supposed to be?
Do they all get really red on the outside?

I don't have a water heater box for my stage 2 brooder yet. I might have to break down and buy one of those big totes. ($20 at Walmart)
