Ooh, ooh, me too! I need to see things done in person and would love to help if I could.

Meh. I tame my roosters. But they know I am not for humping, so we don't have flogging issues.

Sure, we can make it into a party. At least this time it won't be 115 degrees. Or, me by myself on a Friday night, while we try to irrigate and have a steak and movie date night. Because one of the Cornish crosses decides to have a heart attack over irrigation!

I would love some pomegranates or prickly pears to make some jelly with.
I share!
My favorite jelly so far is habanero gold. It has dried apricots and I sub all hot peppers instead of sweet. Second favorite is actually a runny preserve that I made with pears and vanilla beans.
I made a really yummy apple syrup for pancakes or english muffins last year from the juicing leftovers. Just let them drip for two days and made that into syrup. So good!

My dream when we move. To live somewhere cool enough, with enough land to have a fruit orchard. Maybe a PYO. Apples, peaches, pears, plums. Maybe grapes. Strawberries, rhubarb.
And a huge, huge garden. Cattle, sheep, chickens, peacocks, gunieas. Pasture for the animals, hay.

Great! Thank you!
I will give this a try!

Stuff I found with google seemed complicated with soak/rinse, careful water doesn't sour and such... yeesh! lol...

I'm just a few minutes from a place called "new life" that sells all sorts of grains, and herbs. I will check there for what you have suggested. Mom gets flax seed there for dad and I tease she can get it cheaper at the pet shop as bird seed.

I used to sprout all my bird seed too. But got out of the habit when the sprout trays gave up the ghost. lol.

Our parakeet has been in her nest all morning re arranging the nesting material!

It's been awhile since we've had babies around here and I can hardly wait!

OK
You guys have convinced me to try sprouting. I ordered some organic clover seeds.

Critter: I remember New Life. It's been there a LONG TIME!

I tried to watch the video with the scarf lady. I couldn't do it. Somehow the fact that it was a laying hen and not a meat bird bothered me... A lot.
Tracy and Mikey: When you process your birds would you be open to help? I think the only way I'll know if I can do it is to try it.

Whoa! Just slow down there lil' filly!

I'm still in the post embryonic stages here!

Other than cool mechanical ways to remove feathers - I'm not even in the ball park!
