Way cool Gallo! The only 2 plecos I've seen bigger than this one was one in a legit aquarium & one at Petco on University & Stapley-ish. The Pleco is why we went from a 30 to a 55. If this silly thing keeps growing I think I'm just going to water seal the pantry and install a glass door!

It's amazing how something like a fish can act like a dog. But they do!
My grandmas Oscar got to where it knew my foot steps and would go nuts when I was near his tank. I loved that fish!

I used to work at Tropics of Tucson, they had the huge pacu. It was a sad day when it passed away. I was no longer working there, but heard it on the news and cried. Funny how you can get attached to something like fish.

At one point in my life I had 13 tanks all at once , the largest being 135 gal. I love fish and miss them. Looking to get a tank after the holidays.

I remember that Pacu.
When I was a kid we had a pacu that outgrew our very large tank. My dad couldn't find a home for it so he let it go in Kennedy Park Lake. A couple of years later we heard on the news that someone thought they caught a Piranha in that lake. I think it was the pacu.

I am now unsure if I should treat with the Panacur or go with something else.

Where did you purchase the Valbazen? I know that Tatum Pharmacy can get it if I need it. How much do you use on your gals? My gals range from 2 lbs to 4.8 lbs. What is the withdrawal period for eggs?

I got mine from Jeffers Supply and I keep it in the fridge... (comes in a BIG bottle) 1.5cc for big girls .5 to 1cc for smaller birds. Orally. It's a two person job.
Most say don't eat the eggs for a week. I figure I need worming every 6 months too so I eat the eggs. :0)

Tropics of Tucson!

I hadn't thought about that store in years and it came to mind when Mikey D posted his fish pics. That's were I saw the giant pleco, right before they closed. I loved that store. Weren't there two stores, one at Stone & Ft. Lowell and one someplace out on the east side? I remember that giant pacu too! Critter, I wonder if you ever scooped out fish for me? You might have even sold me my chocolate cichlids. Becky, I'll bet that created a big stir, PIRANHAS in Tucson! Run for your lives! I have a friend that caught a huge long-tailed fancy goldfish out of Lakeside. My favorite place to watch freed fish in town is at Agua Caliente park on the NE side. One day we counted over 20 species of African cichlids and a dozen or more South American cichlids. It's especially fun to watch them setting up and maintaining breeding territories in the spring when they are at their most colorful. There's also a giant goldfish in there--probably 4'-5' long.

It probably was.

The one at the pet shop was named George. And I remember the sign on his tank saying "yes, I can still turn around" . They had him for over 30 yrs.

I'm not going to tell hubby

you turned one lose in Kennedy lake, were only 5 min. from it and he and our son will be camped there with rods.

HI Gallo,
I was there around 1991. For about a year, but was mostly cashier and stocking. I may have rang your stuff up for you though.

I love the cichlids, great fish to watch! O.K. now i'm really starting to miss having a tank.

lol...

Yes, they did have a second store on 22ond, far east. It was run by The owners 2 sons.
It was a shame to see it close because it was such a huge part of Tucson for so long. I didn't much like the owner though. lol...

It is funny all the fish we see in the urban lakes. We've seen a HUGE goldfish come out of one of them. Don't remember the lake off hand though.

I too, use Valbazen, but more frequently than Mahonri. About every 3 months. The chickens run with the dogs, well, not WITH the dogs, but the same places as the dogs and sometimes like to peck at unpleasant things
sickbyc.gif
I do a 5 day withdrawl from eggs as I am allergic to most medicines known to man, I treat the girls twice 10 days apart, but not quite a big a dose as Mahonri, maybe I should do that in October and see if I get better results. I worm the dogs monthly too, but with something else and have fecals done on them, they are always clean which is funny because I see them eating scooby snacks after the girls get locked back up. But Valbazen is great and so is Eprinex pour on for lice/mites. I keep both. Seems once you have a worm problem, it's just maitenence. Can't ever get rid of them. They are in the soil.
