Arizona Chickens

It's a small informal show. They are fun, and I usually try to go, but I really have a lot of things here I need to get done, including bathing a couple dozen chickens for the fair

Cool!!! With us, the hard part was standing around staring at the wine fridge trying to figure out what to do first. Once we got that out of the way it went really quickly. We already "knew" what we were going to do from looking on line, but had never done it before.

Nice job, t-ball chickie. I've thought of making one for hatching some OEGBs. But, Banties are notoriously broody and now I have the silkies. I'll probably have little hen-bators all over the place.
My two OEGB hens have gotten so friendly since they started laying. They ask to be picked up now! One is so tiny, I swear she's no larger than a tiny dove. She can fit in the size if one palm and my hands are little. I bet she weighs about 8 ounces! She's about the size of some of these production red four week old chicks!

So what do we do for heat if we do not use an incandescent light?

Tracy - are you serious about limiting food to 12 hours?

***Edited for emphasis***

YES, DO NOT let them free feed! (Even though I'm not Tracy and don't even eat chicken).

Thank you for the second! This is me limiting feed. Now I get to come up with another gizmo.

Hmmmm... 12 hours on - 12 hours off.

Automotive door locker solenoid = easy!

Timer circuit? Old clock with an hour hand? Wind up gizmo? Ideas anyone? Low power consumption please...

OK - no real time to post & those chickens freaked out when the bulldozer drove by but...

They are pecking one of the cornish's tail bloody. What should I apply (bacatracin?) to keep it from infecting and to stop them from pecking?
