Yes and I don't even get close to a 50/50 ratio either, but the kids love it. Candeling and everything!

It does seem like a lot of fun. So how do you typically get rid of your roos? Dinner?

Our chick just hatched!!!

It's dark/black in color! And tips of wings yellow!!

Pray it's a girl!!!!

And that the other egg hatches too!

I'm really bummed my son didn't get to see it though.

He did get to see some of the quail, but I was hoping he could see the chicken.

We are getting silkie's and serama's . Both shipped yesterday!!! So he will get other chances.

Not sure yet, this will be the first time. I've only got 1 crowing right now at 4 months, then 2 more at just over 3 months old. If these 2 chicks turn out to be roos then just great. I'll probably see if any one wanted any on here then craigslist. I'd like to get into freezer camp for unwanted roos but 1. have no experience 2. Not sure what the neighbors would think( chain link fencing on all sides ) 3. Not sure the rest of the family would ever participate?

I've told them we can't keep hatching eggs and do nothing with the roos.

I am happy that I found out that Stock Shop will have some silky chicks in a few weeks and they will call me when they are in. I rather have some hens. I know I hope to hatch my own but can I keep hens to breed with there father? Does that make a differance in hens? I have bred dogs most my adult life but not chickens. I need education with hen

Those naked chickens are scary all right! They look like dinner running around!

I have enough trouble even eating chicken right now. I almost have to have someone else fix it before I can eat it.

I have to go to the library to go on the computer. That is why it takes me longer to respond.Our area in Wittman doesn't have any internet.
