Howdy Will,

Strictly as a preventative or also as a de-wormer? Do you still have occasional infestations or no? It is rare for us, but I am now dealing with tapeworms...

Bill, I have NEVER had an infestation in all of the years that I have had chickens, here in Deming, and back in Casa Grande, and that is a long time.. I use it strictly as a preventative, because that is what my mother told me to do, way back in the seventies, before she passed away.. I still remember many of the things she taught me, and try to use them where appropriate.. She was a very smart person when it came to animals and gardens... Will..

Hey neighbor! I am in Animas, NM. Yeah! Someone who is close to me. My sis is actaully a teacher at the DHS. What kind of chickens do you have?

I only have seven old hens, two barred rocks that are worthless, three lemons, I mean buff orpingtons, and two reds that act like gun molls for the roo.. I have one little peeper that I want to be a pullet, but I a beginning to have my doubts.. My roo is an old Barred rock that I think sailed on the ark with Noah.. I plan on getting a few younger ones in the spring, but not sure just yet.. I've only lived in Deming for three years. before that, I was in the central Arizona region, (CG, Maricopa, Eloy, Toltec, etc.)...

Well I am excited that you are my neighbor. I am getting more this spring just for laying. I usually get them from mimbres valley feeds. I know the owner, Kyle reed. He is awesome. He use to live in animas and run the little store here. He usually charges $2.00 a chick and they are all pullets.

Are you in Eloy? Marana? Or there-abouts?

Closer to Eloy than Marana. I'd give you a more exact location, but I guess middle of nowhere isn't too exact.

OK, then.
I'm going to try an experiment and see how it goes. I'm going to do the peppers for about a week and see what happens. (more than 3 days because this isn't just maintenance.)
I have 4 hens and 6 chicks (9 weeks). I'll give each set 1 TBSP each (probably in yogurt

I don't have my Valbazen yet anyway. If I see any segments in eggs...experiment is over and they get the Valbazen.
I'll let you all know how it goes.
