Arizona Chickens

Mikey,
I can't believe it! I have never had trouble with Ideal chicks. Maybe they had some rough handling from the PO on the way to you?
Which sex link did you lose?

Walt found it so I didn't get to compare - it might have been the light one though...

They are shipping 6 more app spitz and another gold sex link on Wednesday...

If the shirts will be Blue add 1 Adult large to my order. Be sure that the blue color isn't to dark or black will not show very well. Maybe the design can be in another color. Mikey, I am going to try and send you several of my patterns if I cvan find your email. I blew one of the patterns up to 8"x10" and it didn't pixal. Need any changes let me know. You need to take the rope now and decide what will be used.

Sounds good Fuzzy. I think the vote is for blue - I figured on a light color ink - possibly yellow???

email sent, I'll figure out something...

I have you for 1L & 1XL

New guy suggestion: White t-shirts and tank tops with the chicken flag in AZ flag colors.
If you get black or blue t-shirts it will be hot during the summer.

Good idea but I have to keep it to a single color design - friends & favors ya know...

White is cool but gets dirty pretty quickly. I think the 2/3rds majority went for blue.

1 chick out. (WMR Wheaten Am.)

I have five of the auto watering nipples that I think almost everyone else has around here. Orange with a metal pin. If you look at my coop link you will see how I have it set up with a two gallon bucket (planning to hook it up to continuous feed) and about a five foot section of pvc pipe. The nipples are spaced out about one foot apart. I was wondering does anyone else have a problem with the nipples constantly dripping? The ground below them is always wet and there's enough to make puddles so I see my girls drinking out of the puddles sometimes too. That can't be good right? Do I have bad nipples? Too many nipples in my pvc pipe? I plan on getting some sod to put in the run area soon so maybe it's no big deal after that.

Hi folks! I just wanted to introduce ourselves as new members, and new chicken owners!

We bought our first 3 chicks in March-2011, all healthy ladies named Ginger, Harvey, and Poppy. We're tentatively planning on adding quail to our flock next year.

We live in a suburban environment, and are mostly recycled building materials to house and pen our chickens. We're using the West side of our house as a patchwork, build-as-we-go, permaculture environment. This project is forever in construction, with big dreams in mind. This area is 6'x50' on our 1/2 acre lot, with a 6'x 8' shaded coop space, and a 6'x48' run.

We use netting from the house roof to the brick fence to pen the ladies, and burlap sheets to shade the run. The nesting "boxes" are more like caves, as I've constructed them out of cob (I'm also learning some earthworks as I go along).

We've been using backyardchickens.com as a resource this entire time, and now want to be a part of the community! Cluck Cluck Cluck!

Welcome to the real world!

I am sorry MIkey. Sometime later in Feb, I will be shuffling chickens to sort out breeders for the Easter Hatch. If you are looking for more sexlinks, it would be easy to toss a couple of dominiques in with the Lav ams and hatch some black sexlinks for you. Let me know. The incubators will be fired up for Mahonri's Easter Hatch-a-long and I LOVE watching the pips work their way out of the shells!!

Thanks so much for the offer Boots! I contacted Ideal and they are going to reship the GSL and the App Spitz's along with 19 packing peanuts. I told Tammy that we could give some away and her response made me think she wanted to raise them all. Something about getting a bigger freezer???
