I got some tetracycline to add to its water. Should I treat everyone as a preventative? Besides good hand washing, is there anything else I can do to protect the other guys?

Oxine in a mister would be good. It's a disinfectant used for critters. Diluted it works great in a humidifier/mister for any sort of bacteria or virus. I run it periodically when I have the brooder in the house to keep dust/odors/germs etc down. I don't know of any place local to buy it.....just on-line. I think I bought the jug I have now from Jeffers. It is great stuff to keep on hand.

yes, round up alot. He was going to pay for the $20 for shipping out of his own pocket, becasue he rocks like that!!! Mikey you are the BYC Hero of the day and probabley the week and month after doing these tshirts for everyone. We are going to look like a blue Hells angels gang at the show!

Best way to go?

I have 8 chicks that are 4 weeks old. I believe 3 are roos. I am wondering what the best way to get rid of the roos are. Does anyone here want them? Should I wait till they are older and then try to get rid of them? Should I sell them, give them away? Processing them is doable if I am unable to get rid of them by the time they are big enough to eat or start crowing, which ever comes first. I'd just rather see them as happy roos rather than for my happy belly.

BTW...these are believed to be Sex Links that some how slipped through the cracks. If anyone here wants to take one or all of them now...I'd be willing to give them away.

I told my husband I am going to be getting a hen that is laying as soon as he gets the coop and run done so I don't have to wait another 5+ months for eggs. Would love to trade 3 roos for one laying hen but know that is not likely.

so wow, it has been an awful week for chicks and hens alike. NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't take anymore bad chicken news. no more puffy chicks that don't stand a chance, no more awfulness about dellies(reminds me of my poor dellie that died and the reason i had to send the other 2 to southern desert), no more accidents with chairs, shipping stress, respiratory issues, etc

mikey should be getting his chickies tomorrow(i think) and hopefully he'll post happy as larry and break the bad chickie juju.

I'm sorry I've been absent today - one of those long ones. I just got home @ 10:30 & am finally getting to catch up.

Selina, sorry I couldn't respond to your text, I didn't even see it until after MCC @ 10 tonight.

The new feed store is "Shoppers" and it is indeed behind the KFC but it is Apache Trail & just east of Merridian.

They have really good prices on feed & supplies. And they have a pallet size box of chickies. Some of them look like my Welsummers but the clerk couldn't tell me any breeds.

I'm going to place the order tomorrow, 'prolly evening as I have to set up another brooder for the second batch of chickies that'll be showing up tomorrow.

Ideal recommended putting up a divider but I'm thinking 35 chicks in a single rubber-maid tote isn't going to last long...

One Dot laid another egg today

it was a tiny one but I figure she is just getting started and hopefully will stabilize size and interval soon.

"Bad chickie juju" for my chickies today, too. One of my chickens just up and disapparated this afternoon. I can't figure out where she could be because I have looked everywhere, so I just hope I'll find her back with the others tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
