Are these App Spitz just really delicate or is the lack of warmth on shipping doing them in?

I called higley feed in mesa to see if they will carry oxone for us. Gallo- did you just put it in a regular humidifier to mist it. I looked online and the fogger was $350. Yikes!

Also when combs turn purple it means that they are stressed for some reason. Also I read a book and it said that if a rooster has frost bite on his comb that he is unfertile until it heals. By mom bought me a poultry magazine and it showed glove tips that had been cut off and put on the combs. it was pretty cool. Not needed for tucson or phx, but maybe in heber for boston bryce. We will have to take up a collection for used gloves for bostons snow bound chickens.

I used my daughter's cool mist humidifier, just like this one. It makes amazing fog that hangs in the air forever. I put my ladies in a large dog crate with a sheet over it to treat them.

I don't think my birds are too stressed from outside sources. Kevin at near the top of the pecking order, best buddy to all the other girls and they are spoiled with daily fresh garden greens and free ranging. That's Kevin on the left. Her sister Waldo on the right. You might be right though that perhaps her stress comes from something internal.

do any feed store in the area carry Oxine? I have decided that it is a must have after reading an article about it SCNA. Does any one here use it and if so where is the best place to get it?

I called B&B Feed, Superstition Feed, Higley feed & Shoppers Supply & none had it.

Higley said I was the second one to call today (BYC AZ is in the process of phone spamming the feed stores

) & she is leaving a note for the boss to order it.

We should call back Monday and talk to Wayne.

BTW ya'll need to swing by that Shoppers Supply - it is HUGE! And has a bunch of everything - fun to walk around!

Memphis I asked if they had any Welsummers. I was transferred to a gentleman who said they were all bantys but he didn't know what sex they were. I told him (kindly) Wellsummers were a breed not a gender & he said (good naturally) that he was just learning.

I don't think they bought all bantys & some of them did look like my Wellsummer chipmunks.

That is a bummer. This morning I read about a couple of other BYC people with recent survival issues with chicks ordered from Ideal.

I just left a voicemail for her to see if she has any unwashed ones, or how many she will have by tomorrow. They only have 2 roosters. I had 12 in my incubator and 5 were kicking. The rest never started. They had also been washed.

Sherrie
How many hens do they have? So, it's hard to tell if the lower fertility is from few roosters or washing? I had no idea that washing the eggs might reduce fertility. Let me know what you learn.

Well if they ship 6 more next week I should wind up with my original total...

BTW - what is a "cubic meter sunken garden" ?

It's a somewhat of a joke, but somewhat based on permaculture stuff. Instead of having raised beds with square-foot gardening, mine is sunken (to collect rain run-off) and cubic-meter just to be a smart-aleck. In truth, I dug out the ground to a depth between 3'-4' (one meter) and re-filled it with a mixture of some of the native soil and tons of compost. The compost is constantly shrinking in volume as it decomposes so the garden is always slightly lower than the surrounding grade. In sum, the cubic-meter reflects the importance of the volume and quality of soil as opposed to the surface area that you're gardening. Plus, it just sounded funny to me one day.

edited because I'm answering a Mikey question. You know, I think you might be the first person to ask me that.
