No I can't take another roo, having a hard time getting rid of the current ones. If she still has some from the same batch and you are filthy rich maybe get enough to sell as starter trios? I would like another pullet, wishful thinking I know! Hope you come back home to a cleaned house, all the kids fast asleep, and whatever else would make your night go better.give me an australorp and i could tell you at 2 weeks old. anything else![]()
but like you said on those basque, the males are feathering in faster than the female. darn it. i am going to call her to see if she has any more from that batch. do you want an extra roo? really, i can't have 3 roos. these chickies are way too expensive to eat.
Hi All,
New AZ Egg here and a first time poster. Like most around here, my flock last year went from 4 to 9 quickly and two of those happen to be cockerels (not by choice). But that is a different story. Living in AZ and raising chickens definitely has different challenges than most other states.
With the heat of the summer coming up in a few months, I want to re-do how I water my team. Does anyone have some creative ideas on how to keep the water cool and clean?
1) I am concerned with the chicken nipples and PVC that the water would be super hot.
2) Currently, I have a trough with a float I bought off eBay to water the clan. I thought of drilling a hole in the bottom of the opposite side and connecting a sprinkler valve that I can automatically turn on/off for a minute a couple times a day. Is this overkill?
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas?
