Arizona Chickens

Just make sure to tell the kids to immediately tell you (or the fireman) if they ever see a bat on the ground or that doesn't fly away. That it is sick, and could make them sick if they touch it, and that that would mean that they have to get LOTS of painful shots. The reality is that for the most part, you will never see them, or only rarely (if you are outside at night). Another thing you could do is get muscovies--they supposedly also love mosquitoes, and while they are large, they are very, very quiet.

Happy Birthday Mikey. Thank you all for the well wishes for my eggs. I wish everyone on this thread good luck on their eggs if you are in the Easter HatchaLong.
Bats are very good creatures. I love seeing them fly.

Scored a whole case of sweet red peppers and eggplant at Market on the Move today!!! I'm going to be canning Ajvar tomorrow!!

Aren't they beautiful ! I have to do some trimming but soooo worth it.

will,

i did google the bat houses and them controlling the bug population. very interresting read, not dismissed, just not sure if the fireman will go for it or tell me to put on bug spray. i do like the idea of muscovies, will be goggling that one next. then i can pitch some ideas that he will most likely laugh at and tell me no. still waiting for a turkey pen he agreed to and then took back.

Quote: You're welcome to her eggs (if you are willing to brave Bliz's protective instincts--she seems to be brooding

) Just realize that my other goose, Lucy the chinese, is also female. I suppose it is possible to have a sebastapol/muscovy hybrid

but I think the geese have him too cowed. I did notice one of the barred mutt cockerels mating with one of the muscovy girls. And Lucy was mating one previously.
