Mikey - Way to go with your flock!!!

I'm so glad to hear they are doing well.

Just wanted to let you all know that Operation Streetcorner Chicken Meds has been accomplished!! Thanks again Kevs and Mahonri!

Cue seedy music:
It was a dark street. Two vehicles pulled up in opposite directions. Windows roll down, cautiously. "...is this the place? I dunno, I think so...You got the stuff?? yeah....here's my check." (Somehow handing over a check just isn't too fitting!)

Ok maybe I'm taking a little artistic license but it was a dark street!

I did hear some neighbors on the major cross street that sounded like they had 50 ducks (or something making lots of quacky noises - do they quack at night??)
Ha ha very nice, It was good to meet you, sorry for all the delays

Get a photo of an apple tree in bloom and show it to her; also plum, nectarine, peach, apricot, pear, .... Either my nectarine or apricot has the most stunningly beautiful blooms. This is the second year of blooms, but no fruit yet, so I keep forgetting which is which. Dark pink double blossoms that last a LONG time.
I would love to get a sweet cherry tree that was self fertile. I saw one the other day at the Depot and got all excited but because their tags are so vague I decided to look up the info. Required 800 chill hours, no wonder they never include that info!

No geese for pastrymama. The fireman already put the kibosh on that real fast. But I now have 2 quacker houses, mikey you might want to oxine that dog house too.

Wow!

I was betting on you incubating some goose eggs.

Prolly good $ in goose chicks...

Just say'n...

And that wooden dog house needs to go into a dumpster. (though it makes for a nice easy access nest box :) )

I just did a class with my girls on how to graft a tree and came home with a few golden dorsette trees. I'm planning on planting 1 or 2 here and 1 in Tucson. They are just little sticks now, but I don't know how to prune them when the time comes. Where did you learn about the pruning? Maybe you can help me when the time comes?

The grafting worked, though! The little sticks we grafted on top of the root stocks are budding!
I ended up buying a book off of amazon, something about home orchards. It was very informative and I actually read it. I HATE reading! It talks about the different needs of the different fruit trees, even down to the insects and diseases. I'm far from knowing what is best when it comes to pruning but I'll always help and always wanted to learn about the grafting.

Quote: MMMM ! Not sure who that is yet! Any clues? Glad your flock is improving, keep up the good work!!! Know anybody for the goose eggs?
It's Pastrymama, but I think she was over-ruled on that one.

How 'bout it Pastry - incubate a couple of goose eggs?

Tell the fireman they're just really big leghorn / rock crosses from SonoranSilkies

kev, check out Minnie Royal (fertilizer) and Royal Lee. Both have very low chill hours (I think something less than 200 hours). They're supposed to be excellent sweet cherries too. We planted one of each this winter.

Do they grow out to be large trees? ( 20 to 25 feet) Did you order them from somewhere? All the pictures I see of cherry trees are just loaded with blossoms.
