What do I have to do ? Do I have to treat all of my chickens? I dusted the sick one with DE. Now what!!! HELP!!!

DE will not help with an active infestation. Get Adams flea/tick spray and/or ivermectin pour-on and treat. Yes, you need to treat all the birds that were in contact.

Describe what they looked like. I don;t usually find lice on the head, but that is a favourite spot for mites.

I'm assuming if you had the spray you would spray everywhere or just vent and under wings?

I love hearing about everyone's experiences with growing fruit trees in AZ. Sonoran Silkies, I'm very envious of your mature trees. I remember you said how you wished you had planted more trees right when you moved to your house, it has inspired me to get moving on my own trees here. I'll have to look for Sunset Western Gardening. AZBootsie, Pistachio trees were going to be the first trees I planted, then I found out that they need 800 chill hours.

With your elevation at 3000', you might be right on the cusp of being able to grow them. With those you need a male and a female (one male is enough to fertilize something like nine female trees). Our large nursery here in Tucson always has them in stock. As a consolation, I think we're going to plant two almond trees, just as soon as I can get these two giant blue agave space-wasters to flower.

Maybe next year we can try to organize an AZ BYC fruit tree scion exchange.

I second that motion! Picked me up a Burgundy Plum today.

Now I have a duckling who is wheezing. Ugh!!! I am removing all of the newest batch of chicks and ducklings from the in-coop brooder and out to a seperate section of the yard in their own brooder out there. I am not sure what is going on, but whatever it is, it seems to be contagious. I have already lost one duckling, and now the silkie. Ugh!

P.S. I lost the duckling first a couple of days ago. Lost the silkie today. I didn't think the duckling might be a carrier, because she was so tiny, I thought she was just a weak duckling who had a weak immune system or something. /sigh

I'm very sorry to heat that Nova. I do know how you feel. I'd recommend tylan but don't know if it cures everything. On my end, it cured what everything else I tried couldn't.

I use poultry dust and it works great. Dust all of them, whole coop clean out and treat again in 7-10 days. You can usually see lice around the vent area and under the wings.
