Only got 6 eggs today. They've really slowed down.

I've got two broodies I need to put two chicks under each.

I've got so much work to do tomorrow.... can't wait till Sunday.

The Western Ranchman usually gets 2 day old chicks in on Thursdays.

I lost Pippin..... she went downhill so fast. I have 5 chickens left (outside of the chicks that I got in the last 2 weeks). Today is about as close to hell as I have ever been.... Any chicken accept Pippin. I will always love you Pippin.

DH set up the web cam so I can watch Gretchen any time I want. I will now be able to watch when I am at work!! They think I am a crazy chicken lady anyhow but they love to watch as well.

I have my first ever turkey egg hatching today. It is taking a long time for it to come out of the shell. I am so excited !!! It will be either 1/2 wild x Bourbon red or 1/2 wild X Royal palm !!!!

What's everyone doing to keep their chickens cool during this heat wave? We froze some grapes in water and put it in their run and they love picking through the ice for the grapes. They do look like they are panting a bit though. I have lots of shade in the run and lots of fresh water for them to drink but I still worry. Should I give them electrolytes or wait till it gets really hot?

My girls like crushed ice. I add frozen peas to it. We also have a mister for them. I added frozen 2 liter bottles in with my broody to try and keep her cool. I get watermelon for the girls. They love it! You could get a small kiddie pool and add some water to it. Some of my girls loved to stand in it.

I like your idea with the grapes. Will have to try it.

It was really hot here today, so i cant even imagine how hot it is over in phx today! We even shaved our long hair dog because she is so thick. She is 13 years old and every summer I say she isnt going to make it to next summer and she does. She has already had a hip replacement and has hot halk disease which is lupis in dogs. But every year she suprises me. She is the only thing i have left from the divorce of '03.
