Look at all of that wing fuzz....

Sorry about your trip, and having to see the accident, but life exists.. In response to your request for Gambel quail, Murray McMurray usually sells them.. They only ship them in June, and you have to purchase 100 chick lots.. Kinda pricey, and I believe you need a permit in New Mexico...

Edited to say: "Sorry, this post was meant for Memphis"....

I thought id hatch some of my polish/silkie eggs to see what happens. I have a mutt silkie layer and a polish/silkie cross Roo only doing two eggs.

Here is one of my mutt silkies Cuppy Cake, I use for laying ,not in my program but shes sweet.
And Jimmy the roo one of my mutt roos I bought from Aurorarose here because I loved his color also not in my breeding program.
I take alot of unwanted chicken in and find homes for them sometimes.

I would really love to get a pair like these anybody have any? Not sure what they are but the looks like a polish cross with wyandotte or lace ?
these are a must have

that fatal acciedent was between lordsburg and deming right outside the safety corridor on the interstate. I got there right after it happened and the poor girl was laying in the dirt median between east and west bound roads. It was aweful. No one was wearing their seatbelt, so it could have been alot worse.

How is everyone's flock doing during this heat? It is going to be a long summer worrying about the girls everyday

I have the misters running, ice block in the coop every morning and fresh water daily. I guess there isn't much more I can do. They seem to be doing ok although I do notice a little panting.

I found a nice little mister that just hooks up to my hose, and the mister itself is a semi-stiff curly hose that I wrapped around one of the coop posts. My chickens are terrified of the mist, though--they move to the opposite side of the coop. I turn it on when I leave for work and turn it off at sundown. They also have water to stand in, though I haven't seen them using it. They're panting during the hottest part of the day but don't look distressed. I think that sudden jump in temperature was a real shocker for them. I too am paranoid, and run over to check them as soon as I get home from work.

WOW what pretty polish! I have a pair of cute ones. I must get a good picture of them to show them off. No one said anything about my cute little tom turklet? He is so adorable all blowed up like a big Tom! Just in case it was missed here he is again.
