Egg-citing day. My EE, Olivia, squatted this morning.

What a surprise as my older hen didn't squat until 26 weeks. Olivia is 17 weeks old. Her comb was pink this morning when I sat with the girls and when I got home from work it was much redder and larger. Now the waiting game to see what color her eggs will be.!

Yes I do have a white one! Hope its a girl! Will it lay green eggs?

Wadda ya'll think about putting a serama in the cage with it?

Hey Gallo and any others who want to weigh in, How do you keep the birds from eating your grapes?

As soon as mine begin to ripen the stupid wild birds gobble them up.

They've grown up a chain link fence and onto a trellis so I believe bird netting is out of the question.

I don't think that would be a good idea (actually I think it's a really terrible idea)

.....I have parrots, and have had all shapes and sizes of them. I have Seramas now, and they routinely maim or kill morning doves.....I would be worried about the parrot's safety more than the Serama's!

Plus both of those birdies deserve plenty of space to be themselves- parrots need toys and interaction, and the Serama will want a chicken buddy I would assume.....and possibly not a good idea either with the potential for disease transmission. And chickens don't really 'perch' like parrots do,(hop from perch to perch, play with toys, etc) so it would need a different shaped cage than the average parrot.
