Well I am such a fool!
I miss taken my hatch day for my silky chicks. It is today and as of yesterday I have 6 out of 11 eggs hatched. I guess I was just to quick to say I failed again! Well anyway I didn't fail after all!

The coop is quite easy to clean, however if you are going to build a roosting perch, why not have a box underneath with Sweet PDZ under it for easier clean up? I love the set up and it makes quick work of cleaning up the coop since they don't turd much inside anyway aside from the roosting perch.I don't understand the purpose. Is the coop itself hard to clean? My coop is open on one end. The shavings absorb any moisture and the poop dries quickly. I cleaned the coop for the first time (4 months) and it didn't even smell when I went in there. Do you take the roost out to dump it or did you find some sort of lining.
BTW... Very cute coop.

The ginormous BOs at the last poultry show I went to made my heart melt!![]()
I heard in Gilbert that there is a loop hole in the law for hens. You can have a bird for a pet, even in an HOA. We have them but our neighbors don't know. We have a large yard and only hens. We have a pie shaped yard so it is a really deep lot with no homes directly behind us. We have them in the far back. So far it works, they are quieter than the birds outside but they have not layed eggs yet. Thanks! That's me!
We are moving from San Diego to the SE Phoenix area... probably Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, or so... I tried to look up laws last night about having chickens and found something about 200 ft from neighbors. Does that sound right to all of you? That means you really have to have a good sized yard to have chickens... And I'm assuming most houses with HOAs do not allow backyard chickens. Any thoughts/advice would be helpful!
Thanks!
Ours would - before we put up the "Gallo designed" fence!

Yeah, like that white rock pony you had!

I made it extra long so it would zig-zag to prevent grand babies from knocking it over whilst slamming into it with a bicycle. That and so we could move it about and put it where ever we needed it.
