itsredcandy, I did use the quote button, but for some rason, it does not always post the quote for me.. I dunna know, as I'm no computer geek.. I was referring to your post about your chicks not going into your house, from waaaay back there in the thread.. Sorry for any misunderstanding.. PS, I used the quote button on this note also.. And, it forces me to use the preview prior to the submission.. It never did that before.. I'll figure it out eventually, if ya'll will please bear with me... Will
Weird. Yeah, I am kinda a computer geek but don't know not'in bout computers ) I am a database programer and people think I should know something about hardware.)

The coop is quite easy to clean, however if you are going to build a roosting perch, why not have a box underneath with Sweet PDZ under it for easier clean up? I love the set up and it makes quick work of cleaning up the coop since they don't turd much inside anyway aside from the roosting perch.
True, they don't pooh much of anywhere else. I was just curious. No ill attitude meant in my post.

The ginormous BOs at the last poultry show I went to made my heart melt!

CASE!!! - (Copy And Steal Everything!)
My favorite design technique!!! My coops have become a AZ thread melting pot....a little Gallo, a little Mikey. some Mama Chris, some Fuzzybird....etc. Next project is to CASE John's POO BOX idea. I see great purpose in it!! One of my smaller coops is a pain, difficult to manuever a rake in there and it seems that no matter where I put the food trough it winds up with poo in it. I am thinking I can tuck it under the poo box and it will stay nice and clean. Scooping out a box has to be easier than raking and sifting sand in a tiny area.

AND- I really like Mikey's term CASE......gonna steal it too!!!

Easy Sherrie... This old sailor doesn't want to get in too deep just yet.. Remember, I said my first computer was an abacus, and I had trouble with that.. When you get as old as I am, you don't want to go too fast.. I think I'll let the moderators have a shot at helping me first.. I'm so old that I first sailed as the coxswain, (the man who pilots the boat) under a captain named Noah, aboard a ship called the Ark.. Now, we sailed for 40 days and 40 nights, and I still couldn't get that ship into port.. Finally ended up parking it on a mountain.. Not a good recommendation for some one to try changing browsers.. lol Will

GRRR!!! If dogs were held to the same rules as chickens, no one would be allowed to have one! I really really really HATE double standards. If they allow dogs, they sure as heck better allow chickens! *end rant*
if you move into the city of phoenix, here is the down low:

As always, if you have loud, obnoxious birds, they will fall under the noise ordinance if someone complains.
(a) Except as otherwise provided in this article, it is hereby declared to be a nuisance and it shall be unlawful for any person to keep rodents or poultry within the City. No poultry or rodents shall be kept in an enclosure within eighty feet of any residence within the City. Poultry may be kept within eighty feet of a residence if written permission consenting to the keeping of poultry less than eighty feet from a residence is first obtained from each lawful occupant and each lawful owner of such residence. Poultry shall not be kept in the front yard area of any lot or parcel within the City. Poultry and rodents shall be kept in an enclosure so constructed as to prevent such poultry and rodents from wandering upon property belonging to others.
(b) No more than twenty head of poultry nor more than twenty-five head of rodents nor more than twenty-five head comprising a combination of rodents and poultry shall be kept upon the first one-half acre or less. An additional one-half acre shall be required for each additional twenty head of poultry or for each additional twenty-five head of rodents or for each additional twenty-five head comprising a combination of poultry and rodents. For areas larger than two and one-half acres the number of poultry or rodents shall not be limited.
(c) No male poultry shall be kept within the City limits except such male poultry as are incapable of making vocal noises which disturb the peace, comfort or health of any person residing within the City.
(d) All such enclosures shall be kept in such condition that no offensive, disagreeable or noxious smell or odor shall arise therefrom to the injury, annoyance or inconvenience of any inhabitant of the neighborhood thereof.

I had one "girl" who was well over 9 months old before I realized she was a "he." I don;t think people answered your posts because they were not certain. I know I am not.

Feel the space between the pubic bones. If they are close together and relatively firmly in place, that indicates boy. If wide apart and easy to move, that indicates girl. There are some where even this is not completely obvious.
OH guess I will have to just wait and see. Suppoise you always have a paint roo available or someone near by will. I will also do what you said tomorrow. Thanks.

HOA's = Communist dictatorship (avoid them at all cost!)
HOA covenants trump city ordinances. They are essentially a contract between the HOA and the homeowner. Any provision that is not illegal (such as discrimination based upon race, etc.) is enforceable, regardless of whether the city itself allows it. The HOA can be stricter than the city, but not more lenient. For example, the city can allow chickens, but the HOA does not have to. However, if the city disallows them, the HOA cannot override it. There are a lot of protections in Arizona from HOA abuse that are not present in other states. For example, the HOA cannot prevent you from flying an American flag, having solar panels on your roof, prevent you from having a satellite antenna. They cannot prevent you from parking on a public street, and even parking on an HOA owned street is protected in certain circumstances.
