I love the spur idea!!!! When you have a favorite
girl & you see another beating her up, it is like I want to
Whap!!! The other one back... You know like the show bully
Beat down.. That is a real show where the bully gets $10,000.00
if he goes into the ring with a MMA professional fighter.. If he wins the two
rounds he walk a way with the mula... How.... Ever.... He gets his black eye,
hopefully and his ego all messed up.. It is 6 minutes of a beating for the awe full
bully.. The great part is that his victims get the money if he looses.. Oh & did
I mention an Appology from the bully, yeah the best part.. They appoligise !!! Yeehaa

Hi, I'm out in Queen Creek, we got our first 4 pullets a couple years ago and a friend gave us a teen chick about a year later. We had one of the girls go broody on us so the neighbor gave us some fertilized eggs and we now have 6 baby chicks.
I want to plant some plants in the run or outside the run for shade and to kinda hide the girls from any predators, and picked up:
Firecracker Bush - (hamelia paten), Heavenly cloud sage, and the guys at the nursery said they would be fine.
Any suggestions on other plants for the hot AZ desert?

As for ice, I freeze water in the big rectangle tupperware containers, I pop them out and then put them in the run, the girls sit on them, the water melts into the ground and cools it as well.

Gotta love our chickens!

I took Gallo's advice and planted Grape vines. It's working out great. They grow fast, nice shade in the summer, die back to let the sunshine in all winter and I eat the grapes. They are super easy to grow.

Just got my first egg from my dutch bantams! I'm ridiculously excited. Only 9 more & I can make an omelette.
