Could you shoot them with bb or pellet gun in your own yard? You might not have the answer but I would assume the reason they don't want you to shoot them within 1/4 is for safety of the public.Dove are good eating if you like dark meat. They kinda taste like the dark meat of a wild turkey. If prepared right they are delicious. I just had some this weekend prepared in a Mole' sauce. The Ringnecks, Collared, or Eurasian (all the same bird) can be taken any day of the year with no limit. They are considered an invasive species here in Az. The Mourning Doves and White Wings can only be taken during the dove hunting season with a limit of 10 Mourning Dove and I think 5 or 6 White Wing total. Don't quote me without checking the regs first. The short 2 week season starts Sept. 1st through the 15th and the second season runs mid-November through the first week of Jan. Not sure the exact dates. You can now shoot within city limits as long as you are a 1/4 mile from an occupied dwelling. They are easy to clean. Just rip out the breat with your fingers and you are done. Lots of video on you tube. I can usually clean my limit in about 10 minutes.
Glad every one is ok.Not to worry. The goats I think had several hours standing in water but the chickens and turkeys were pretty dry like last time. The good thing out of this is the goats yards are swept clean of poop and send down the wash!![]()
Sorry to hear about your sick kids and your crazy hen. I have no idea what's going on with her. Testing the waters to become broody? My PR hen is going bald. Just around her comb...like chicken alopecia. She's been this way a while, not moulting, not the roo, no parasites. She also isn't laying. I've found her in the nesting box quite a few times, but no egg. I don't think she's eating them. She's also VICIOUS when she's in there. Before, we could lift her up and get the egg, but now she'll peck hard. I've had broodies that don't peck this hard. (no, she's not broody). She made my 4 year old cry and left a big mark on his arm. Otherwise, she's fine, we can pick her up, no problem. It's been going on too long to be egg bound. Any ideas?
On a side note...all 5 of my kiddos are sick.![]()
Welcome to the BYC forum. I think the show most of us attended was in Feb. this year but I am sure there is a poultry show at the Maricopa County Fair. Isn't that in October?Hey all my chicken loving friends.
We I am extremely proud of the birds i have recently aquired and i would love to show a couple of them. Does anyone have any idea where and when a show is and how i go about registering. If you have any idea as to what to do that would be great. Thanks for all your help Arizona your always the best supporters.
