Wonder if doves are delicious.

Our place here in Wittmann flooded again last night! Had to be worse then last time for it took out the fence on the down stream side of the wash we have through the property.

Oh no!!!
Like Red Candy I hope all your critters are safe.

We have a small wash that runs through our land too. Neighbors construction and our garage have messed up the natural flow of water. With all the rain this season, my runs have flooded a bit. I am on a mission to redirect the water back to the wash were it wont cause any damage. But on the up side, each rain deposits more sand into my runs!!

I just sent you a PM.

Hey all my chicken loving friends.

We I am extremely proud of the birds i have recently aquired and i would love to show a couple of them. Does anyone have any idea where and when a show is and how i go about registering. If you have any idea as to what to do that would be great. Thanks for all your help Arizona your always the best supporters.

Thanks
The gentleman farmer.

When I was a kid, my dad hunted with bird dogs and we ate a lot of dove and quail. The doves in Oklahoma taste good. I have heard the ringneck doves here are good eating. Just seems like a whole lot of work for a tiny peice of meat.
I once saw a hunting show where they were preparing dove. The guy had a simple hand movement where he went in (bare fingered) and removed the breasts with a quick motion which made quick work of it. They were pretty small, but the dish he made with them sure looked tasty.

That's how my DH does it. It's really fast and not too much work at all...not like a chicken.

My PR hen is going bald. Just around her comb...like chicken alopecia. She's been this way a while, not moulting, not the roo, no parasites. She also isn't laying. I've found her in the nesting box quite a few times, but no egg. I don't think she's eating them. She's also VICIOUS when she's in there. Before, we could lift her up and get the egg, but now she'll peck hard. I've had broodies that don't peck this hard. (no, she's not broody). She made my 4 year old cry and left a big mark on his arm. Otherwise, she's fine, we can pick her up, no problem. It's been going on too long to be egg bound. Any ideas?

On a side note...all 5 of my kiddos are sick. :(
