The Aloha reject ...
That just sounds so mean.

OK that's weird. I know I posted yesterday about hatching eggs but the post does not seem to be showing up for some reason. So will try again. I want to do the NYD hatchalong but really don't want shipped eggs in Dec.

I'm looking for hatching eggs of the following, reasonable good SOP stock.
Black Copper Marans
Ameraucana (real ones that lay blue eggs, not EEs)
Buff Orpingtons

To be picked up Dec 9 to be set Dec 11 If you might have some please PM me with photos of  your breeders. Thanks!

If you end up with an extra Black Copper Maran or two, I would love to buy them off you. I want them, but the places in down keep saying they won't order unless I commit to 25.

So the tracking number that Ideal gave me for the chicks is pretty much worthless.

They sent them yesterday afternoon at 5PM and they are expected to be delivered on Friday morning.... isn't that more than THREE DAYS???

I called the P.O. and told them to call me when the chicks came in, no matter what time... they said they would.
We'll see.

I would leave a message on here for Boston Bryce he has my old stock of Black Copper Marans up in Heber.
Last month his hens were not laying.... but maybe they will be by next month.

I have a hen but only have a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana roo that still hasn't started doing his job. Once he does, I'll put him over her to make some more Olive Eggers. I did that last year with a different roo and I have a huge Blue Copper Olive Egger that is one of the most gorgeous birds I've ever owned. I'll hope for more of those.

Tuesday to Wednesday is one day, Wednesday to Thursday is two and Thursday to Friday is three. Pretty sure chicks are shipped express rather than priority. And I agree, USPS tracking numbers are pretty useless.

I will keep you posted. I know there's a place raising them down by the border; just hadn't really wanted to make a 5 hour trip each way..... but I might, especially if this hatch is poorly. Now I really need eggs/hens. Dog attack this afternoon got my layers..... I have the injured survivors in the living room; I don't know if any of them will make it through the night except mayber Meaner, the roo. Just because he's mean enough.

As anyone dealt with Ideal before?

I got an e-mail they sent at 5PM yesterday, telling me my order had shipped.

I'm guessing it's just an automated thing that someone sends out at the end of their shift?

It's going to get into the 40's and if the chicks arrive at the PO tonight, it could be TOO cold for them...

Of course, I'm a worry wart!
I've ordered from Ideal 3 times. Each time they have come in on either Thursday or Friday morning depending on the day they shipped. If they shipped yesterday it'll probably be tomorrow morning that they will get to your post office but it could still be Friday. I suggest calling the post office in the morning as soon as they will answer and asking if they are there. They are supposed to call you when they arrive, but I've always called before they call me. I always go get the chicks as soon as they come in instead of trusting them to the mail carrier. I've always ordered in mid-September and have never had a lost chick.
