Is that a Mountain Lion I see in the brush?
One of my all time favorite colors of chickens is what I would best describe as a blue colored Black sex link where the red leaks in the head/chest feathers and is outlines in a deeper blue. I am hoping to get that kind of coloring in the olive eggers when I cross AB's with the red brown egg layers.ha ha there have been sightings around - but the state wildlife officials swear they are mis-Id's bobcats ....
My biggest predator issue would be weasels - and I keep a sharp eye out for signs and build everything to anti-weasel size.
I'm not sure I would call that chestnut - pictures aren't super - but it is more a brown color - and none of that on my hen just the roo. Good question - if there starts to be a color standard.
I personally LIKE the chestnut color on the cclb - but I know that is being culled .... I wouldn't want just another barred looking bird ...
It would work the same but the chicks would not be sex linked.I'm hoping to get some of these birds this year from @ronott1 and I have CLB birds already so some of the crosses seem interesting.
I've read a bit about the A/B roo over CLB hen cross but what about the CLB Roo over A/B hen?
I am interested in improving my CLB on their own but really only interested in the A/B as blue egg layers. (Though keeping a breeding line of them may be an option)
