I still have a beautiful white silkie rooster for someone who will be good to him and not stick him in the frying pan. Excellent type, great beard, vaulted skull, heavy feet feathering, good toe separation...this boy has it all. He is 1.5 yrs, nice to the girls, gets on well with other roosters and comes from a NPIP breeder. I live in Fayetteville and am not supposed to have roosters. (shhhhh). Someone? Anyone?

A silkie will not feed very many kids..... I'd suggesta Giant....Cornish ...or a Orp!

Seriously, most silkies are very gentle. Bet it will die of old age at the youth ranch in about 10+ years!

That's pretty funny , I think the kids that come out will get a kick out of them , might even get a chance to show them sometime. That's the best when you can take a kid with not much good in their life and give them something to take pride in and give them some pride in themselves.

I sent my Hubby out for some chicken food a few months ago. Seems I can only find the gamebird feed at Atwoods. Anyway, he comes back with this "white silkie bantam pullet".

Thats the first time he brought me home a chick. I can't stand those fuzzy chickens. But now, that chick is the dangest cutie I've ever had. Acts just like a little puppy. Always running around and chasing things. Sooo cute. I can't beleive I just said that.

Although, its not a bantam but a standard and who knows if its a pullet, ITS STAYING.
