Arkansas folks speak up.........

Oh no, she won't be part of our breeding program! LOL She just looks "closest" is all. Nope, if I'm gonna spend money on good B.O. stock, then it's gonna "stay" good B.O. stock!

I won't be doing shows or nothing like that, but I want a good flock of good meat birds and we both love B.O.'s anyway so ... I'm going to take advantage of my hubby's approval! And, might possibly sell some hatching eggs to help off-set the costs a little bit. Ya know? Not trying to make a living off of them. :)

Had a tornado up here on the white river. Nothing bad just made a mess. Birds / family & property is still in one piece. Just scarey. I hate storms like that!! Hope all is good for everyone...prayer's / thoughts are with u all!

Hello,

I am new to the chicken world and recently converted my carport into a medium size coop. I am looking for 4 laying (or close to laying) hens to purchase. If anyone has any leads that would be much appreciated. I am located in Little Rock, AR and happy to make a small drive if needed.

Thanks!

We are about 4 hours south of you in Monticello. Severe thunderstorms, tornado warning and lots of lightning and thunder.

Hello!

I'm new to chickens too, still waiting on my first crew to arrive in May so I can't help you there, just wanted to welcome you!

Weather was wild here in Rogers, tons of rain, but no damage, at least not at our spot in the world, haven't ventured out yet.

Hall - your Buff Rooster is just ... wow ... awesome bird. I remember showing that picture to my hubby when I first started coming to BYC! We won't be starting our "breeding" stock for many months. Not going into details but like I said, between increasing/progressing with our homesteading plans and hubby being home for a couple months (vacation/medical) we're strapped for cash right now. So, it'll be several months before we even *begin* to really move forward. Just in the planning stages right now. But I think it would definately behoove us to eye your stock. ;)

We're also thinking of New Hampshire's as well. We don't want to have too many "breeding" pens going. Just one of each most likely, to augment our "homestead" chickens of various breeds/mixes. Just like with our rabbits. We're starting with "mutt" breeds and will be progressing to pedigree stock in the future. Grow most for our own use and save a few aside to sell as breeding trio's for those wishing to get started too. Mostly NZW & Cali's. Although I must admit that I'm liking to looks of NZR's as well and think NZR's carrying the broken gene are totally awesome looking! But I digress. LOL

Welcome to all the new-comers! You'll enjoy BYC and getting to know all the wonderful folks here on the forums!

Sadly, we lost our "Golden Gentleman" prematurely in September. Sheriff stated an "unknown third party" failed to feed and water our livestock for a week. We found him with a broken neck. Divorce stinks. End of subject, please.

These are not chickens, but do well alongside them....

Our Steel Gray Flemish Giants. Expecting a litter in a few weeks.
ETA: Nicole (7) is holding the buck.

Our New Zealand Reds. Also expecting a litter in a few weeks.

Hall ... you are just such an enabler! And here I was worried about not being able to find red's!

Sorry to hear about your rooster though. How sad.

I've got the 16 meat mutt rabbits right now and my chickens just love scratching around their cages, lol. Once these rabbits grow up a bit, I'll be determining which ones will be visiting FC and which ones we'll be keeping.

Hmm ... I just might have to invest in more carriers ...
