Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hello, I have not really posted here before. We are in NW AR. We currently have 7 pampered girls that are living large just outside of Rogers.
We are moving and we can't take their coop with us (it's a large garden shed that we divided). So I am looking for a coop that can accommodate up to 10 or 12. The coop itself (sleeping/nesting quarters) will be located within a fenced enclosure, but it would be nice it had an enclosed outdoor area.
All I find online is incredibly expensive... even on Craiglist. It's very bad or very pricey!
I mean $2000 for a coop?
Anyone out here has either a suggestion, a coop they don't need anymore, a coop plan that 2 moderately people can put together in a few hours, anything? Help!

Lumber and materials are pretty pricey these days, so most any kind if coop is going to be expensive.

I lucked out a couple of years ago and found a 10 x 10 x 6 dog kennel that I added a covered shed to and spent about $500 total for. I did have some if the material already here though so that helped out on the expense.

I'm in Central Ar. Sorry I can't help with the coop issues. We are new to chicken keeping and have 4 8 week old RIRs (production. Whatever). So far so good. They free range on our 3.5 acres, but stay in about a 100' x 20' area, mostly under bushes and the shed.

I really want an EE, but my coop is small and I guess I need to prove these girls will work out first.

Do some searches online for portable chicken coops. There are plenty of ideas and designs out there that people come up with. I even saw some made with pvc piping for structure, covered with chicken wire and tarps on that for the shaded coop/roost area. Lightweight, moveable and probably less expensive than traditional wooden coops. If you are moving to a predator heavy area, you need to give a bit more consideration in design.

If you go to either Home Depot or Lowe's you will find wood storage sheds that range in price from around 550.00 up to 1000.00 that work out well for chicken coops. These are sold in kit form and while they don't go together in a few hours, they are quite adequate for turning into coops. They are some of the cheaper options we have looked at for people who don't have lots of experience building buildings.
