Arkansas folks speak up.........

Not that I can think of, outside of Caldwell Mill at Rosebud--that's what we were just lamenting.

There are some way up north, and possibly in the southwest part of the state, but I'm not sure.

Just curious--would anyone around here be interested in going in on an order of Color Ranger broilers ? I've been interested in trying them, but I'd want the price break that you get when you order 100 birds...but I don't want 100 birds!

How about it--anybody wanna split an order of free-ranging meat birds? We could put together an order for as many people as want to participate. I could do as many as 50 birds.

Well, my dad and I were going to get Cornish crosses, but I'm not certain as to how the red range birds would do.

Where at in AR are you?

Pretty much smack in the middle.

Just outside of Little Rock. We don't want to deal with the stink and health issues of the Cornish X, plus we want the freedom of being able to stagger butchering days, not to have to do them all at once.

Hmm...I don't really know! lol! I'm used to what I learned in college! lol!

Cornish crosses are the way to go if you want big bruisers fast...and don't mind freezing. That is a good idea though.

We usually do Light Brahma X Australorp if we want staggered processing at our house. It takes a bit longer...but OMG...do they taste good!

(Off to bed! I have classes to be at tomorrow! Will look at this thread later tomorrow!)

Ninjapoodles - I wish we had more room. I would love to be able to get some of those broilers. My wife thinks we have too many chicks now. I would get me butt kicked. Hope you find somebody to go in with you!

Ninja - I already have an order of the Cornish X with my neighbor but maybe in the early spring I might could talk DH into it.

Scott - I think you are right I think we need to get an Arkansas get together planned. This is a great time of the year to do it.

Luvmypoultry - where is Franklin, AR?

Have any of you been to the auction near Lonoke/Cabot area? Not the Beebe thing. This is once a month. I haven't but I talked to a guy at the auction outside of Benton and he said the prices of buying poultry was a lot cheaper than at the Benton Auction.
