We are moving from Illinois to Rogers, AR in the next 30 days (depending on the closing date on our new house) and we are bringing our darling girls. I already inquired on this thread as to who makes coops in the area and someone told me to check on Craigslist, which I did. But before we go and buy a new coop I wanted to check whether someone has a used coop for sale until we can build their final habitat. There are 7 of them, so it does not need to be too big, but safe and secure (we don't know what kind of predators are in the area...). If anyone has something to sell, please PM me at your convenience with pics and price, we will be willing to travel one or two hours to go get it.

I have had a few chickens since then but just got a large coop so now I can actually have more than 4. I just hatched out some dominiques and javas and I'm so excited. Oh yeah and a cochin that was supposed to be a java.

I think it kind of depends upon the purpose for your flock. If you want to improve the breed then one might be good to focus on. If you want some egg layers, some meat type, some eye candy, then go for whatever makes you happy, but I am no expert by any means.
