Arkansas folks speak up.........

Greetings Ark,

Heading to Little Rock in couple of weeks from KC, have a roo that needs rehomed.

Lavender Orpington, from Hinkjc line. Only about 5-6 months old now, and will be huge! Was told when I got him as a chick, breeding stock, English standards. Hoping to find someone that could use him to breed.

Thank you!

Gonna be in town for work the week of Oct 5-12, and am driving in.....as to price, not much, maybe $15? I don't know, maybe trade for a young pullet laying already? Course if we work a trade, would need to drop off as I get into town then pick up something as I leave......:gig

Open to offers as well. I have had interest in different breeds, just no interest in bantams. And town I live in does not allow roos, hence the need to rehome.

If only you weren't half a state away, I've been considering some ducks..

They are good... but messy! Like their poop is wet blech! Mine are really pretty and considered a rare endangered breed so they need more backyard breeders! Order some locally in spring and maybe yours will be really friendly =)

I noticed out of state people asking questions about Arkansas, best places are north of Little Rock around Conway then up around Fayetteville, the economies are strong and property values are holding or increasing. The area around Jonesboro was also doing well but I have recently noticed better homes for sale have increased. I would check to see if homes are selling for more, less or stagnate.

Good Luck.

oh an if you are moving from a state that does not allow loud car stereos (bass) you maybe disappointed, I would definetly check the neighborhood for noise pollution , and that even means if you are moving into the country, the natural state is a bit of a farce.

Anyone near Sherwood have some Silkies for sale? I need hens but will do straight run chicks.

Hi folks, I am in Northwest Arkansas (Rogers) and curious about what y'all suggest for winter protection for a coop. I have 4 pullets fully feathered in a 10'x20' dog kennel/run that serves add my backyard rabbitry also.

I am not a carpenter but I have the scrap wood laying around to build them a shelter.

I would suggest you built them a shelter. The kennel won't keep the snow/rain out and its really important that they stay dry! Its great that you have 4 they will huddle together to conserve body heat.

You'll definitely want a fully enclosed shelter, not so much to hold heat, but definitely to keep them dry and out of the wind. I'm by no means a carpenter either, but I'm fairly handy with a saw and a drill, and I was able to build my entire coop using scrap materials, for about the price of the two boxes of screws I had to buy.
