Wilson's farm supply mills their own feed so I would check them out. Most animal feed bags are not air tight so it loseses some nutritional value over time due to oxidation so I try to buy from a place that has fresh feed and I use pellets for all my adult birds because its less prone to oxidation Than crumbles. An old bag of crumbles has about as much nutrional value as shredded newspaper.

I might look at buying an airtight container than, I know they sell some for dog/cat food. My bag of crumbles is pretty old, I might start fermenting it than to give the chickens additional nutritional value.

I keep.mine in a 50 gal barrel I got at the farm supply it has a lid so it helps keep out rodents too.

I use plastic garbage cans. I think they are 55 gallon sized. They each hold 3 50 lb bags if feed. I have one for layer pellets, one for game bird feed, and one for my sweet feed/chop mix. Seems to keep it pretty few ash, doesn't get wet and keeps out rats and mice.

DarthRooster - we're planning on processing four nice roosters today. They're all 25 weeks old. One of our English Game Hens was the brooder and we gave her five Maran eggs to hatch. One was a "dud" and the other four, yes that's right, four, were roosters. Our primary rooster used for fertilizing our eggs is an Ameraucana. That's why the four resulting rooster are rather large and colorful. Let us know. We're near West Fork.

I have 4/5 young cockerels available. They were 15 weeks on Thursday.
They are 1/2 Naked Neck and 1/2 Easter Egger. One does not have the naked neck the rest are naked necked.

I know I'm not in NW Arkansas, but if you're this way you're welcome to come by and look. They're going cheap.

So they are Maran/Americauna crosses? Do you have any pics? Its my father in-laws Rooster that got scrapped and was a beautiful white/black with green splash. I'm interested for sure, but I know he will want pics before he commits to a new rooster or two. Thanks
