It's been two days and so far so good. When we got up he ate good and I put electrolytes in all the water. He drank, but when he drinks, he turns his neck 180°. He seems to be disoriented as far as direction. He was on my neck today and he jumped off. When he did he flapped his wings but flew in circles all the way down then walked in circles. Tonight he seemed a little off. If I wanted to vaccinate for mirks, how would I do it? I know if I were to buy from cackle, they vaccinate them.
These were hatched from my broody hen and they were there own eggs. I do have 14 Marans I bought that are three weeks younger.. going on 3 weeks now. I lost one on day 8 but so far, so good on the others..
The one that's sick is a mix breed. I kept him with me the last couple nights and he wanted to stay with me tonight. When I had him, instead of settling down as he has the last couple nights, he seemed restless. I put him back and he seemed to settle down and sleep with his siblings.
We will see.. I didnt want too, but I was suggested to turn off the heat lamp on the Marans and one that hatched from the bater. The whole flock of chicks seemed to settle down with the lights off.. Need sleep?

Try giving him a Vitamin E pill a day for a week. See if that helps. You can get the liquid capsules and just pop it in the back of his beak.

There HAS to be someone with Easter Egger and/or Olive Egger hatching eggs within a reasonable driving distance from Ft Smith area! Anyone, anyone?

Maybe in a month if you consider this driving distance. I’m outside Prairie Grove. Maybe they’ll have most of the roads fixed by then.

None of mine are laying right now but as my holiday travel is over I’ll start extending daylight hours to see if I can kick start them into laying. They have all molted so I’m happy to add lights and get them started. They’ve had their break. I’ll want hatching eggs myself in early February.

Mine are black mottled and red mottled green egg layers but I’m crossing them with a buff rock rooster to lighten the color of the flock. I consider it too dark. Since mottling is a recessive gene none of the offspring will show mottling this next generation. And since the rooster does not have the blue egg gene there is only a 50-50 chance any pullet will lay a green egg. Mixing in Buff should give some interesting colors.

If you are still interested in about a month get back with me but I can’t help right now.

I no longer have any EE, except one if you want to call it an EE. She is a green egg laying Naked Neck. She is 1/2 Easter Egger though from her mama.
Im trying to use her to add more green/blue egg layers to the flock, only I want Naked Neck green egg layers.

Sounds like I need to get with you. You're mottled EE's sound like they'd help my mottled Naked Necks along. This had been a slow ride trying to get it going. I got some eggs from @alohachickens and hatched around Easter this year. I kept 10 of the best marked and all the Naked Necked ones but list everything to the possum attacks except for a Spangled rooter and a solid red NN pullet.

I did get a small hatch of mottled Partridges from my Mottled Partridge hen and Red Mottled rooster.

This is the cockerel I have left, there were two but one just up and died on me.

There are three pullets, I don't have a good shot of them, they are mottled but you have to pull wing feathers and look close to see their mottling.

Draye, once mine get to laying I’ll post on here or PM you. The buff from the rooster may mess you up, it can have some strange effects, but at least they will all have a recessive mottling gene from their mother.

That's not too bad of a drive! I'm due to hatch Jan. 14th so it'll be a few weeks before I'll have the bator ready, figured I should start looking now so I know where to get them. I'm maxed on brown layers so I was hoping for good green/blue layer chances!

This pullet barely shows any mottling just a few spots on her wing area.

This pullet shows the most mottling, there are two little bitty spots on her bib and she has some big white areas on her wings.

Another pullet with minimal mottling.

They may not show much but I think that at least they carry the mottling gene and should pass it on to their offspring if bred to a good mottled cock.

I'm not overly concerned about keeping the Partridge coloring, although I do like the looks. I figure it may stay around at least for awhile though.
Current plans right now are to put the mother under the son and the three pullet back under their daddy.

This will be where your eggs will come in. Find a good cock bird from them and put over all the best mottled pullets from those above hatches.

I do have this cock bird that I can cross in sometime it other also.

I actually like this "calico" look better but figure it will produce both mottled and spangled birds.

Well, I have ameraucana pullets laying. One pen has a cockerel in with them. I can check the eggs for fertility if you want. They would be considered EE because I don't have them separated for color variety right now. It's a wheaten cockerel in with other wheatens, blue wheatens and a few splash, blue and black pullets. I'm just a bit SE of Fayetteville, which isn't far from Fort Smith.
